President's Letter to the Community

Community Day Thank You

Dear Spelman Community,

Last week’s Community Day sessions were full of energy and enthusiasm. Thank you to those who participated in two very productive opportunities for you to share with us your contributions to Spelman’s new strategic plan.
We expect to have an analysis of the written comments from CREDO, the firm leading us through the planning, within a few weeks and I will share the outcomes at my State of the College next month.
A special thanks to those who designed and implemented the event, especially to Dr. Myra Burnett and Dr. Terri Reed for their leadership of the process and to members of the strategic plan committee for their invaluable contributions. A sincere thank you goes to Jennifer daCoste and Michelle Samuels-Evans from CREDO who led the sessions.
I'd also like to lift up our colleagues who presented ways that Spelman is already implementing initiatives that speak to the four pillars of the plan: Delivering the Spelman Promise, Elevating the Spelman Difference, Enhancing Operational Excellence and Promoting Academic Innovation: Dr. Darnita Killian, Provost Sharon Davies, Mario Berry, Dr. Ayoka Chenzira, Dr. Francesina Jackson, Jennifer Johnson, Dr. Jimmeka Guillory Wright, Dr. Dimeji Togunde, Jacqueline James, Dr. Brenda Dalton, Dr. Tinaz Pavri, Aku Kadogo, Dr. Jerry Volcy, Harold Bell, Sharon Owens, Jilo Tisdale, Chardina Choate and Cassandra Joseph. As well, appreciation is shared with the staffs of the Office of the Provost and the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness for their efforts supporting this important initiative.
Together, we continue to imagine, invent and ascend.

Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D.
