Ted Aronson founded AJO, an institutional investment manager, in 1984. In 2020, he announced AJO’s intention to close. Instead, AJO re-emerged as AJO Vista, a partnership between AJO, HighVista Strategies, and Missouri LAGERS. Aronson joined Drexel Burnham Lambert in 1974 while still a graduate student. He was a member of the Quantitative Equities Group, which provided innovative practical applications of modern portfolio theory and quantitative portfolio management. His group managed the Revere Fund, the first actively managed fund registered with the SEC to employ Modern Portfolio Theory. Prior to forming AJO, Aronson founded Addison Capital Management.

He was past chairman of the CFA Institute (formerly AIMR) and currently trustee of its Research Foundation. He chaired AIMR’s Trade Management Guidelines Task Force and is both a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Investment Counselor. Aronson serves on the New Jersey State Investment Council at the appointment of Governor Phil Murphy. He is also on the Board of Directors of WXPN-FM (University of Pennsylvania's radio station). He was a lecturer in finance at The Wharton School and is a frequent speaker on Wall Street issues, especially innovations in methods to minimize transaction costs and align fees with performance.

Why I Serve on the Spelman College Board of Trustees

What started as a vendor (me)/ client (Spelman) relationship well over 30 years ago, grew into much more! I have profited from my Spelman relationships, far beyond the fees I earned decades ago.
