Art History and International Studies Double Major Earns Curatorial Fellowship

December 2019

Destinee FilmoreDestinee Fillmore, C2021, will join the incoming cohort of 12 students selected to participate in the 2019 Andrew W. Mellon Undergraduate Curatorial Fellowship Program. The art history and international studies double major began her two- year fellowship at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art this fall.

The program, which is in its fifth year, provides students with hands-on experience in a museum setting by allowing them to assist curators and staff on exhibitions, collections and programs. The fellowship was designed to encourage undergraduates to pursue graduate studies in art history and curation. “Being selected as a Mellon Undergraduate Curatorial Fellow is such an amazing honor,” said Fillmore. “Without the support and love poured into me by the Spelman College Museum staff, my art history professors, and classmates, this moment would be impossible."
