Jailyn Clark Named Jesse Jackson Fellow, Receives $75,000 Scholarship

September 2018

jpeg"Grateful" is how Jailyn Clark, C’2021, described her feelings when she learned she was chosen as one of 10 recipients of the Jesse Jackson Fellows-Toyota Scholarship.

“It is a great opportunity,” said the Spelman College mathematics major. “In addition to not having to worry about the financial burden of paying for my college education, I am grateful to Toyota for the internships and co-ops they are providing.”

The Jesse Jackson Fellows-Toyota Scholarship is a renewable scholarship that awards up to $25,000 dollars annually to African-American college sophomores majoring in business or STEM. Altogether, Clark will eventually receive $75,000 in scholarship money and be afforded summer co-ops with Toyota at the end of her sophomore and junior years. Following her senior year, Clark may qualify for a full-time position with Toyota.
