Spelman Student Film Selected for 2017 BronzeLens Film Festival

August 2017

The eighth annual BronzeLens Film Festival of Atlanta will feature a screening of the Spelman student-produced film “Rooted” on Saturday, Aug. 26. The film, produced by Lizette Terry, C’2017, Amber Duncan, C’2017, and Talisha Middleton, C’2018, follows a neighborhood’s response to gentrification that is caused by the construction of a new stadium in West Atlanta.

“Rooted” is among 14 student films selected for the festival, which will be held Aug. 23-27 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. The film also was featured at the 14th annual Student Documentary Film Showcase, presented in April by Spelman’s Digital Moving Image Salon.

The Aug. 26 screening of “Rooted” begins at 6:05 p.m. Jazz recording artist and songwriter Kathleen Bertrand, C’73, is executive producer of the film festival, which has been designated as an Academy Award-qualifying festival for the short film category.
