Zoe Cadore, C’2011, recently was crowned Miss Caribbean United States 2017 at the 10th annual competition at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in New York.
The Houston native, who is of Grenadian and Guyanese heritage, will embark on a national speaking tour to promote her platform, CARIH: Caribbean Americans Reinvesting in their Homelands. A licensed attorney, Cadore works as a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Fellow on Capitol Hill, where she focuses on energy and environmental policy.
While at Spelman, she completed a double major in political science and drama with a concentration in dance, and served as a Georgia Legislative Black Caucus intern for two years with former State Rep. Nikki Randall and an intern for U.S. Rep. Sheila J. Lee (D-Texas).
“My time at Spelman is when I really learned what it meant to be an American woman of both African and Caribbean heritage,” Cadore said. “Spelman prepared me mentally, emotionally and spiritually to conquer the world with excellence, dignity, fearlessness and grace."
