Leadership Spotlight: Our Director
Liz Andrews has served as Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art for four years, since August 2021. At Spelman, she has orchestrated seven nationally recognized exhibitions, hosted dynamic public programs, facilitated artistic and movement interventions in exhibitions, and created opportunities for students to learn about art, curating, and collections care.
She co-curated and spearheaded the national tour of Silver Linings: Celebrating the Spelman Art Collection. Prior to her appointment at Spelman, Liz worked in the LACMA Director’s Office, where she co-curated and co-edited the book for the exhibition Black American Portraits. Andrews holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University, an M.A. from NYU Tisch School of Arts, and a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from George Mason University. Liz Andrews was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and is the daughter of attorney Irving P. Andrews. Her publications appear under her full name, Myrtle Elizabeth Andrews.
