Spelman + LYFT Ride Opportunity

Spelman is excited to announce that it has launched a new on-demand ride commute with Lyft, available to Spelman Commuter students. This program is intended to better serve the College community with affordable on-demand transportation. 

 Spelman College and Lyft Partner to Provide Rides for Commuter Students

Spelman Commuter Program Details

  • The Lyft on-demand service will provide students with $400 of Lyft credit for the academic year allowing them to get rides to and from campus

  • The $400 Lyft credit is to be used on eligible rides (Tip not included) 
  • Lyft rides are available Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
    and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Rides must start or end within the designated campus geofence outlined here:

Sign-up Details

  • Check your Spelman email inbox for an invitation from Lyft Business, and follow the steps in the email to sign up for the program

  • Once you click the link and join, the Lyft credit will now be applied to eligible rides

  • Don’t yet have a Lyft account? Download the app and create an account to get started

Tips For Riding Smart with Lyft

  • Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver information, and car make and model match what you see in the app

  • Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time

  • Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app

  • Ask the driver to say who they are picking up

Lyft’s Health Safety Program

In response to COVID-19, Lyft launched a Health Safety Program, which includes:

  • Personal health certification for drivers and riders

  • Required face masks for drivers and riders

  • Health safety education for drivers and riders

  • Distribution of cleaning supplies and masks for drivers
