Spelman Class of 1892

Annual Giving

The Road to June 30

For this final campaign of our fiscal year 2020, we're challenging each of our main regions - the Northeast, South Central & Southeast, Western & Far West, and the Great Lakes - to compete based on participation rates!

When you make a gift, of any amount, not only are you contributing to Spelman's mission, but you're also increasing our alumnae donor participation rate, which impacts our rankings by showing the world that our alumnae support us.

The region that reaches the highest participation rate this month wins! Represent your region, and show your Spelman spirit by supporting your alma mater today!

For us to remain Spelman strong, we need your help!

A Special Salute to the Class of 2020

Congratulations to the Spelman College Class of 2020

Congratulations to all of our graduating seniors. The Class of 2020 is the embodiment of the perseverance, tenacity, dedication, leadership and empowerment that Spelman strives to inspire in all of our students. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved over the past four years in the face of obstacles and challenges. Despite their final year being abruptly interrupted, our seniors have remained undaunted and successfully completed their academic courses. They have worked so hard to earn their degrees, and although their commencement ceremonies have been postponed, we celebrate them now. Please enjoy learning about a few of our brilliant graduates:

Tashiana Tucker, C’2020

May 2020

Tashiana TuckerTashiana Amara Tucker, a sociology and anthropology major, is a Spelman College Social Justice Fellow and currently serves as the co-president of Difficult Dialogues.

Tucker has interned on Capitol Hill for Congressman Dwight Evans, and also traveled abroad to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Barcelona, Spain. Upon graduating, she will relocate to Houston, Texas and serve as a 2020 Teach for America Corp Member in the KIPP Charter School network.

The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native said, "I am forever grateful that God saw fit for me to walk through the grand gates of Spelman College and made provision for me to matriculate with purpose." She added, "My time here has undeniably nurturing and prepared me to find a greater sense of self, while providing me with the space and tools to imagine my part in creating a better world."

"After serving as an educator and before I serve as a Congressional officer, I will successfully establish a faith-based transition home for formerly incarcerated young adults. This goal is greatly inspired by the research I birthed at Spelman and my lived experience with familial incarceration."

"I spent the past four years being molded and inspired by my Spelman sisters in all their glory. Though my senior year did not end as expected, I know that there is no other class more fit for this task. The class of 2020 has shown consistently that we will always rise. I can not wait to see how our individual choices to change the world will manifest."

Our Mission

The purpose of the Office of Annual Giving at Spelman College is to effectively raise funds from all constituency groups, encouraging annual contributions that support and advance the mission of Spelman College. Gifts to the Annual Fund (Unrestricted Fund), support the College’s strong legacy and is the foundation for transformative change.

Every Woman...Every Year History

In 2006, Spelman College launched the Every Woman… Every Year! campaign to increase Alumnae participation and the support of EVERY alumna EVERY year. Over the last 10 years, our alumnae participation rate has doubled, helping Spelman remain the No. 1 HBCU since the campaign launch. This year our goal is 35% alumnae participation and we cannot reach this goal without YOU.
