Alumna Named Woodrow Wilson Georgia Teaching Fellow

September 2019

Brianna Harris Brianna Harris, C'2016, has been named to the fifth and final cohort of the Woodrow Wilson Georgia Teaching Fellowship. The fellowship, which seeks to increase the number of high school STEM teachers in secondary schools in Georgia and Pennsylvania, will allow Harris to obtain a master's degree in education and a certificate to teach in Georgia. Initially, Harris had no plans to become a teacher.

"Everyone in my family is a current or retired teacher," she said. "I wanted to do something different." However, during a mission trip to Ethiopia in 2018, Harrus realized her calling to teach while working with a small group of children.

"Since then, I have been committed to improving education one classroom at a time," she said. "I want to be the bridge my future students may need."
