Ayaan Harper Selected for GeorgiaForward Leadership Program

Ayaan HarperAyaan Harper, C’2012, is among 48 young professionals chosen to take part in the Young Gamechangers program. A leadership action program sponsored by GeorgiaForward,Young Gamechangers recruits young minds under 40 to help solve persistent challenges of one Georgia community.

Harper will work on a project in Monroe, Georgia, researching the area’s industries, exploring its natural resources, and gathering historical data. They will meet with business and community leaders over the next eight months and draft recommendations and innovative solutions to some of the area’s challenges.

“I have wanted to be part of Young Gamechangers since my time at Spelman,” said Harper. “What excited me about the program was the idea of emerging leaders having a platform to use our voices to help move the state forward,” said Harper who is an international trade analyst at Georgia-Pacific LLC.

At Spelman, Harper majored in international studies and studied gender equality/women's access to opportunity structures in London, Morocco, and Tunisia. She also developed an interest in economics, economic development and actively participated in

Model UN, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, NAACP, and Hands On Atlanta.
