Entrepreneur is one of those sexy French words that has more to do with patience and perseverance than enterprise and business. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of the American economic landscape and women play a major role in that picture.
According to the
2013 State of Women-Owned Business Report by American Express Open, there are more than 8.6 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. that collectively generate more than $1.3 trillion in revenues to the economy. Alumna Chelsea Jackson Roberts, Ph.D., C'2001, is changing the face of yoga one girl at a time. Roberts, the founder of chelsealovesyoga.com, a platform for discussion on yoga, race and diversity, was featured in the Elle magazine article, "Do We Need Yoga Classes Dedicated to Women of Color?," where she shared her thoughts about the importance of making yoga available and attractive to diverse groups of people.
