Tekiah McClaryTekiah McClary is a biology student from Orangeburg, South Carolina. She is a member of the Social Justice Program through the LINCS Scholars Program. The work and legacy of Representative John Lewis has been influential in Tekiah’s involvement in social justice. Some of her notable advocacy includes raising funds annually for the March of Dimes and participating in voter registration drives. Tekiah was inspired to enter the STEM field because of her initial love of math and science. She realized that her true purpose is to help others who experience health and health care disparities within her community and around the world. She aspires to earn an M.D. in obstetrics and gynecology and specialize in maternal-fetal medicine. Tekiah hopes to positively impact both the science world and society through making meaningful discoveries and striving to dismantle oppressions within health care systems.
