Meet Our Social Justice Fellows

Social Justice Scholar: Zanyah Williams C'2025

Zanyah WilliamsZanyah Williams is a sophomore Environmental Science and Sociology double major from Burlington, North Carolina. As a FIRST Scholar in the Spelman College RISE Program, Williams conducted research on disproportionate heat exposure in Atlanta, Georgia and presented her findings at the RISE Research Symposium. Her study focuses on severe heat as an environmental issue and why low-income residents and people of color are more susceptible to the effects. Throughout this experience, Williams expresses her concern for racial injustices and will continue to advance as an intellectual in the interdisciplinary field of environmental justice.
