Social Justice Scholar: Maya Phillips C'2023

Maya Phillips

Maya Phillips is a senior, Sociology major from Stoughton, Massachusetts. During the summer of 2022, Phillips participated in the University of California Berkeley Sociology Summer Research Program on Race as a research fellow. In this role, she assisted a team of professors research inequalities in STEM education, with a focus on students of color and first-gen students learning data science. In addition to serving as a Social Justice Fellow, Maya is a member of the Spelman College Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program and a fellow in the 2022-2023 Spelman Cohort of the Georgia Women's Policy Institute.
