Social Justice Scholar: Lauren Nicks C'2023

Lauren Nicks

Lauren Nicks is a senior International Studies major, Sociology minor hailing from Long Island, New York. A Spelman Social Justice Fellow, John Lewis Scholar, Andrew Goodman Campus Ambassador, Newman Civic Fellow, and Georgia Women’s Policy Institute Fellow, Lauren has a passion for expanding voter access and increasing political awareness and participation among students in the Atlanta University Center. She has previously interned with non-profit organizations Public Citizen and the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia, helping to recruit poll workers and oversee redistricting efforts. Lauren aspires to be an attorney with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. In her final year at Spelman, Lauren will continue her organizing around voting rights in preparation for the 2022 midterm elections.
