The WiSTEM Summer Bridge Accelerator is a six-week academically intensive residential program for entering first-year students who are pursuing degrees in mathematics, dual degree engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, biology and economics.
The program components include credit-bearing courses (mathematics and computer programming), an introduction to the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) in data analytics, and college-preparation enrichment activities. It includes targeted tutoring by student peer mentors, mentoring by STEM professionals, and academic advising by the program co-directors and staff. The program continues during the 2022-23 academic year with a residential learning community and continued advising and mentoring.
The program covers the full cost for student participants (tuition, e-books, materials and other resources) and provides a stipend of $500 for their full participation. Although students will have access to desktop computers, it is recommended that attendees bring their own laptops.
