Office of Institutional Effectiveness
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides coordination and oversight of initiatives and projects related to institutional performance and student achievement. Covering broadly-defined areas of institutional research, operational planning, accreditation/compliance, and student success, the office provides comprehensive data collection and evaluation at the student, departmental, and institutional level.
The office reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
What We Do
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness is a resource internally, as the repository for institutional performance data and improvement projects. It also serves as a resource externally, as the coordinator of federal and regional reporting. Personnel in the office will undertake the following activities:
- Coordinate submission of required reports to SACSCOC related to general enrollment, finances, and follow-up to the Interim Fifth-Year Report.
- Maintain data in support of continuing state approval and national accreditation of the teacher certification program.
- Support implementation of the First in the World project to study and implement metacognitive strategies in the curriculum.
- Support implementation of the Career Pathways Initiative to provide early career exploration and successful placement after graduation.
- Implement the EAB Student Success Collaborative to strengthen student advising, retention, and graduation.
- Identify benchmarks for the College’s Strategic Plan, tracking performance against benchmarks on a quarterly basis.
- Build and provide access to a searchable database cataloging achievements of Spelman faculty, students, and staff.
- Provide oversight to Institutional Research and Student Success activities.
