The Spelman College Department of Music and The Atlanta Opera present soprano Angela Brown's trailblazing one person show, "Opera...from a Sistah's Point of View."

"Brown's goal is to draw a general audience to opera and to help them develop an appreciation for opera; to expose diverse populations to opera in such a way that they feel comfortable attending an opera; to entertain an audience with classical music in such a way that they do not feel intimidated by it but can easily relate to it; and to educate the audience about how to approach opera and how to prepare to attend and enjoy an opera production. Brown's hilarious, educational narrative is interspersed with musical selections as she dispels the myths of opera with humor and charm. Each aria is described and explained in context of the opera’s plot. The narrative is comical at times, charming and delightful and involves the audience." This event is free and open to the public.
