Tekiah McClary, C'2021

Tekiah McClaryTekiah McClary is a biology student from Orangeburg, South Carolina. She aspires to earn a M.D. in obstetrics & gynecology and to also specialize in maternal-fetal medicine.

McClary was inspired to enter the STEM field because of her initial love of math and science. As she matured, McClary realized that her true purpose is to help others who experience health and health care disparities within her community and the world. She chose to attend Spelman College so that she would be cultivated into a global and intellectual leader all while accessing the best education possible for Black women. McClary hopes to positively impact both the science world and society through meaningful discoveries, advancements and dismantling oppression within health care systems.
