Wrayzene Willoughby, C’2022

Wrayzene WilloughbyWrayzene Willoughby, born and raised in Washington, D.C., is a rising junior chemistry (dual-degree engineering track) student at Spelman College. Willoughby has a keen interest in research on environmental sustainability, and aspires to obtain a Ph.D. Her previous research experiences at Howard University to Stanford University have fostered a love for the areas of wastewater treatment and nutrient recovery.

On campus, Willoughby is heavily involved in the Atlanta University Center (AUC) National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the AUC’s engineering design team, MakeWay Academy, and researching at Georgia Institute of Technology under Dr. Yongsheng Chen. In the summer of 2020, Willoughby interned at ExxonMobil in Annandale, New Jersey as a process development intern to help solve the dual energy challenge.
