Isimeme Udu is a
biology student from Concord, North Carolina, who is interested in computational biology and entering the medical field as an obstetrician gynecologist. She was inspired by stories from her grandfather, who had a passion for research, as well as her mother’s own lamentations about the difficulties she had during her pregnancies.
She chose Spelman because she aspired to be surrounded by intelligent women who look like her, and hopes to learn and grow as a young independent Black woman. As she continues her matriculation, she says she feels confident on how to navigate life as a Black woman and looks forward to creating safe spaces for black women.
