Kasahun Woldemariam, Ph.D., associate professor of political science at Spelman, is currently the Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow at the
United States Mission to the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The mission aims to partner with the African Union in ways that will strengthen democratic institutions, support sustainable economic development, promote peace and stability, and improve the lives and health of all Africans.
Dr. Woldemariam's portfolio includes: Human Rights, Justice and Rule of Law, African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, AU Youth Roadmap, African Continental Free Trade Agreement, and Migration and Refugees.
His most recent book is “The Chinese Eldorado and the Prospects for African Development” which analyzes the impacts of African countries' trade and investment relations with China.
