Nami Kim Pens New Works

December 2016

Nami Kim
Nami Kim, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy and religious studies, has a newly published book, "The Gendered Politics of the Korean Protestant Right: Hegemonic Masculinity" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016). This book provides a critical feminist analysis of the Korean Protestant Right’s gendered politics. Specifically, the volume explores the Protestant Right’s responses and reactions to the presumed weakening of hegemonic masculinity in Korea’s post-hypermasculine developmentalism context.

Kim is also co-editing a book with Wonhee Anne Joh, "Critical Theology against U.S. Militarism in Asia: Decolonization and Deimperialization" (Palgrave Macmillan), Forthcoming. Drawing on cultural studies scholar Kuan-Hsing Chen’s threefold notion of decolonization, deimperialization, and de-cold-war, this book provides analyses of the interrelated issues concerning the relationship between Christianity and the United States’ imperialist militarism in the Asia Pacific.
