COVID-19 Masking Safety Requirements

Face Masks Are Required to Be Worn on Campus

Regardless of whether or not you have been vaccinated, Spelman requires that you wear a mask covering the nose and mouth at all times except in a private space like a private office or residence hall room.

  • What kind of mask should I wear? Multi-layered masks such as surgical masks or N95/KN95 masks are recommended. Cloth masks are sufficient only if they are made with multi-layered fabric.
  • What kind of masks should I avoid? Single-layer face coverings, including neck gaiters, are not as effective in stopping respiratory droplets and should be avoided.
  • How should I wear my mask? For your safety and the safety of those around you, your mask should be well-fitting, sitting snugly over your mouth and nose, with no gaps. It should cover your mouth and nose completely
