Group Training Program

Stop by the Wellness Center with your student ID to sign up for group training with one of our certified personal trainers. In an effort to service a greater portion of our students, beginning fall 2018, we will be offering unlimited group training sessions with our personal trainers. Get the same time and attention you would get in a one-on-one session, but with a group. Our new group training program encourages accountability and camaraderie as you work out alongside your Spelman siblings.

  • A workout specific to your fitness level and goals
  • Accountability and motivation
  • Coaching on proper exercise technique
  • Advice on injury prevention
  • General guidelines for nutrition

Please download, complete and return the appropriate forms to the Wellness Center front desk or email to wellnesscenter@spelman.edu. A trainer will be in contact within two days to set up your appointment.

NOTE: A Fitness Assessment is required prior to signing up for Group Training. Fitness Assessments expire after one year.

Client Cancellation Policy

Clients who are unable to attend a scheduled session should contact their trainer to cancel. In the event that the trainer cannot be reached, the clients should call the Assistant Director of Wellness at 404-270-4702 at least 24 hours in advance. Only two cancellations, schedule changes or no shows per client will be allowed each semester.

Session Length

Group training sessions are 60 minutes.

Assessments

Fitness Assessment

This full assessment includes body composition, blood pressure measurement, aerobic fitness analysis, simple range of motion test, and muscular strength and endurance assessments.  

Body Composition Assessment

This assessment utilizes skin fold calipers to measure percent body fat vs. lean mass.  Results are interpreted and recommendations are made as necessary.
