Wellness Center Personal Training

Personal & Small Group Training

A valid Spelman Student ID or Spelman Faculty/Staff ID is required for program participation.

Personal/Small Group Training Hours
Monday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Wednesday 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Thursday 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.

NOTE: A Fitness Assessment is required prior to signing up for Personal Training. Fitness Assessments expire after one year.

Personal Training Packages

Personal Trainers will utilize the Fitness Assessment along with medical history and individual goals to design, implement, and monitor a fitness-training program.

Small Group Training

Workout With Others
Designed for 4-8 participants, Small Group Training offers the experience and benefits of personal training for those who want to workout with others with similar goals and enjoy the comradery of the group.

Policies & Guidelines

Client Cancellation Policy

Clients who are unable to attend a scheduled session should contact their trainer to cancel. In the event that the trainer cannot be reached, the clients should call the Assistant Director of Wellness at 404-270-4702 at least 24 hours in advance. Only two cancellations, schedule changes or no shows per client will be allowed each semester.

Lateness Policy

Trainers are obligated to wait 15 minutes for their clients. After 15 minutes have passed, it is at the trainer’s discretion to offer the session. If the trainer proceeds with the session starting late, it will still be completed 30 minutes from the original, scheduled start time. Please communicate with your trainer.

Session Length

Personal training sessions are 30 minutes with your trainer.

Package Expiration

All personal training sessions expire at the end of each semester. 


Fitness Assessment

This full assessment includes body composition, blood pressure measurement, aerobic fitness analysis, simple range of motion test, and muscular strength and endurance assessments.  

Body Composition Assessment

This assessment utilizes skin fold calipers to measure percent body fat vs. lean mass.  Results are interpreted and recommendations are made as necessary.
