FIT-TO-DANCE WORKSHOP

DANCING IS THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR BODY!
Focusing on technique, stretching, balance and flexibility for different styles of dance with a world-renowned choreographer. Dancing is a form of cardio exercise that also affects mood and mind in a positive way.  Our FIT-TO-DANCE class will help to improve energy output, lift up your mood and lower your stress levels in ways similar to aerobic exercise. Dancing will also help curb your anxiety, improve condition of your heart and lungs, increase muscle tone and strength, endurance and motor fitness, as well as, better coordination, agility and flexibility.

HUSTLE & FLOW YOGA

GET READY TO ELEVATE YOUR HEART RATE AND MIND!
When muscle meets the mat, Hustle & Flow is born. Designed for fitness enthusiasts, Hustle & Flow is a total mind and body workout that fuses calorie-burning plyometric moves like squats and lunges with a traditional Vinyasa-styled yoga flow.

This class incorporates strength training, cardio, balance, and flexibility through a blend of traditional yoga asana combined with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to improve cardiovascular endurance and help burn maximum body fat while targeting small but mighty muscles. The practice concludes with restorative postures to increase flexibility, mobility and range of motion while calming the mind and soul.

Over time, you'll inevitably build strength, stamina, lean muscles and a Zen warrior-like mind. From athletes to desk warriors, all levels are welcome!

MOBILITY METHODS + FLOW

In the words of Bill Bowerman, "If you have a body, you are an athlete." If your muscles are tight from lifting, running, kettle-ball swings, burpees, or simply LIFE, then this class is for you.

Mobility Methods + Flow is designed to loosen tight hips and leg muscles, improve range of motion and circulation, alleviate back pain and more while igniting a sense of inner strength and power through a variety of repetitive hip-opening yoga poses. It's perfect for individuals who are looking for a routine they can do to lessen stiffness and reduce the risk of injury due to training or repetitive daily motions that could be taxing on the body (i.e., sitting at a desk all day, cutting hair, picking up one’s toddler etc.). Get ready to dive deep into opening and strengthening the often tight hips, hamstrings and low back.

YOGA WITH KYMMI WORKSHOP

Yoga is more than asana - meaning it goes way beyond just a physical practice. Take a moment to explore the mental and philosophical realms of this practice through mindful movement and meditation as we dig deep inside to explore the inner self. This workshop begins with a guided meditation before moving into an after-thought discussion where a range of topics are covered—from self-love to new beginnings and intention setting. It concludes with a light yoga practice and restorative postures to leave both the body and mind feeling refreshed.

ZUMBA WITH TRACEE

This class will have you mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. A total body workout, combining all elements of cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

AQUADIVA WATER AEROBICS

Get ready to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to your fitness routine. AquaDIVA Water Aerobics program will empower participants to feel more comfortable and pro-active about incorporating ongoing fitness and a positive body-image as a lifestyle choice. The water resistance will help to create one electrifying pool party!  Exercising inside the pool has less impact on your joints so participants should feel free to let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.

This program encourages, motivates and inspires individuals to change their lives and not just their “waist sizes.”

SPELMAN SWIM

BUILDING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND STRENGTH  
Swimming is an excellent form of exercise for people of all ages.  Learning to swim can be a very beneficial lesson in someone's life. There are a number of times when the knowledge of how to swim comes in handy, and it may even save your life someday. Therefore, our Spelman Swim class will teach lessons on the importance of swimming and techniques. Students will learn their strokes and train the body in breath control, which is great for building up endurance.

Spelman Swim program will develop strong swimmers and confident students.  We want our students to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences.

Swimmers are introduced to the four competitive swimming strokes as well as rescue skills and healthy lifestyle habits.

TRACK CIRCUIT TRAINING CAMP

Push your fitness to the next level in our Indoor Track Circuit Training Camp. HIIT the floor running and moving between exercise drills from one circuit to the next until completion. Need an extra push? Team up with one or two of your Spelman sisters and get it done together!  

Get ready for a combination of strength training & cardio conditioning workouts that will get you stronger all over while also improving performance for everyday activities.
