Student Trustee: Nia E. Malone, C'2020

Nia Malone is a sophomore pursuing a double major in political science and comparative women’s studies. Malone is a very active member of the Spelman campus community. Currently, she serves as secretary of Grl-Pwr, a community service organization that mentors middle school girls in the Atlanta West End community. Malone is also a member of Young Democrats of America-Spelman Chapter, and she was recently selected to serve as the student trustee on the Board of Trustees for Spelman for a three-year term. 

Aside from school, Malone's passion is mentoring and working with young children. Her goal to combine her passion for children and policy into a life-long career. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she plans to pursue a Juris Doctor at Georgetown Law, Harvard School of Law, or Yale Law School.

Her ultimate goal is to work on Capitol Hill as a lobbyist advocating on issues that improve the public-school system and equality for women. Malone aspires to run for public office including the office of President of the United States. She embraces Spelman’s mantra….Undaunted by The Fight,”  and she strongly believes that  her passion combined with her strong work ethic, will afford the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the world.
