Spelman College Student Representative: Elected in 2020
City of Residence: Memphis, Tennessee

Jillian Jackson is a senior, political science major, Spanish minor from Memphis, Tennessee. At Spelman, Jackson has served in student government each year and currently has the pleasure of serving as the 80th President of Spelman’s SGA this year. She is also actively involved in the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta, URGE, and Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight U. Jackson is also a member of the Mu Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is an avid documentary viewer and loves to travel and explore different cultures in her free time.

During her term, Jackson is excited to help Spelmanites “step into their story” as the college reopens.  Alongside her SGA board, she hopes to help rekindle the on-campus experience students yearned for in the past years. She also plans to continue SGA’s legacy of leadership, advocacy and service to the Spelman community.

Upon graduating, Jackson will attend graduate school or enter the workforce. Her goal is to utilizing her voice to advocate for and assist marginalized people in all aspects of their lives.

Thoughts on why she chose to serve on the Spelman College Board of Trustees

My peers elected me to serve as a voice for them. As a student representative, it is my mission to represent the students and their concerns and to provide the Board of Trustees with suggestions regarding student-specific issues. Spelman students are my why and my community, I think it is an honor to represent them during my term as SGA president.
