Sydney DuPree Stages Theatrical Performance About Human Trafficking

March 2023

Spelman College Top 10 Student Sydnee DupreeSpelman's Sydney DuPree, C'2023, is a senior theater

major and transfer student from Port St. Lucie Florida. On track to graduate summa cum laude in May with a 4.0 GPA, she enjoys acting, drawing, painting and writing. DuPree is currently signed with Atlanta's Forward Agency as a television/film actress, but she aspires to use my acting experience to pursue a career as a casting director.

On Friday, March 24 through Sunday March 26, DuPree will present, "DADDY: A Live Walk-Thru Drama About Human Trafficking." This immersive theatrical production begins in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed.D., Academic Center lobby and then transitions to different spaces as audience members walk together from scene to scene, following the story line.

This performance is special to me because human trafficking is not a subject that is commonly talked about enough. It also disproportionately affects Black women and is largely underreported," said DuPree. It's important to me that I present this work to my Spelman family because I want them to understand the tactics predators use to coerce young black women so that we can be aware and protect ourselves."
