Television producer and vice president of TV at 21 Laps Entertainment, Paige Simpson, C’2009, has turned her passion for storytelling into a trailblazing career in the entertainment industry. Simpson has recently contributed to some of the most binge-worthy content to-date, such as "Stranger Things," for Netflix.
Media and production were not always a part of Simpson’s dream. Originally a biology major at Spelman College, it was during her senior year at Spelman when she received an opportunity to intern at BET with Tracy "Twinkie" Byrd and Michelle Adams. There, she played a part in casting for "Being Mary Jane," "The Start Up," "Fruitvale Station," and "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B."
Simpson’s most recent project, "Yasuke," was purchased by Netflix. This story of a Black Samurai will further speak to her passion for promoting diversity in Hollywood – a nod she often credits to her "tribe," which includes notable advocates like Nina Yang, Viola Davis, Amy Israel, Rachel Brosnahan and Forest Whitaker.
