Ernestine Gray, J.D., C’70, was recently named chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Judicial Division. Through this appointment, Judge Gray will bring attention to the impact courts have on children and families, while maintaining the Division’s focus on the rule of law, diversity in the profession, and the security of judges.
Judge Gray has dedicated more than 45 years to the legal sector through her work in the Baton Rouge Legal Aid Society, the Attorney General of the State of Louisiana, the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court bench, and as a trial attorney for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
In addition, she has been appointed as the past president of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, National Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the local YMCA, YWCA, and Volunteers of America.
Recognized as an intellectually courageous leader, she continues to advocate for the development of innovative programs that speak to the youth.
