Isis Evans Charts her Path With the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation

July 2022

ISpelman College Student Isis Evans and Congressional Black Caucus Foundationsis Evans, C’2023, was chosen from a pool of over 600 applicants to be a part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s summer cohort of 2022. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is a champion of producing the future black leaders of tomorrow. It envisions a world in which all communities have an equal voice in public policy through leadership cultivation, economic empowerment, and civic engagement. Thanks to  the CBCF, Evans is interning in the congressional office of Georgia Representative Hank Johnson.

As a political science major with a minor in writing, Evans has been able to use her studies within her congressional internship. She has partaken in speechwriting, attended hearings, and learned more about Capitol Hill from an inside perspective. She plans to utilize her internship experience as she sets forth on her journey of becoming an advocate for change.

The Columbus Ohio native serves as the co-president of the Morehouse Spelman Prelaw Society, secretary of the Senior Class Council and resident advisor for the Spelman Housing Department. She is also a study group leader for the Student Success Program, the co-lead of Movements of Praise at Sisters Chapel, and a proud member of the Granddaughters Club as a Spelman legacy of her aunt Rebecca Birkett (Chattman) C’2004.
