Spelman economics major Mercy RonoWhile at Spelman, economics major Mercy Rono, C'2021, worked as a Resident Assistant her first year and recently completed the advanced track of the American Economic Association Summer Program.  

The AEA Summer Training Program has increased diversity in the field of economics by preparing talented undergraduates for doctoral programs in economics and related disciplines. While in the program, Rono received two months of intensive training in microeconomics, math, econometrics and research methods with leading faculty. At three credits per class, students in the program have the opportunity to earn 12 college credits.

Post Graduate Plans

Following graduation, Rono will head to the MIT Sloan School of Management as a pre-doctoral technical associate. She is interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics, with a particular interest in applied econometrics as well as finance and development.
