A Message for the Class of 2020
“As first years, we were marked as having perfect vision. Though we are graduating in the least expected and unfavorable conditions, we still carry that distinction and task with us as we enter an ever-changing world.”

At Spelman, Hughley places all of her focus on international studies, Spanish and creative writing. She is interested in the ways that law interacts with social systems and ideology, particularly the war on drugs. During the summer, she was a Yale Arthur Liman Fellow working in Fulton County Schools. She traveled to Sweden to study the country’s political system. She credits Spelman professors, faculty and mentors for helping “water and prune” her intellectual life while helping her to find her path and interest.
