Tangela Mitchell, C’2020

May 2020

tangela mitchellTangela Mitchell is a graduating senior, political science major, Spanish and creative writing double minor from Fayetteville, North Carolina.

"As I’ve navigated my final year at Spelman, especially while serving as Miss Spelman College, I have been heavily concerned with the inheritance we as seniors are leaving behind," said Mitchell.

"Is Spelman better for me having been here? Am I leaving a more accepting, more celebratory, more whole campus culture to be inherited? Did I positively affect people’s lives here?" she asked.

"If all of the answers to these questions are 'yes' as I leave these gates, then I have left a legacy at Spelman of which I can be proud. We all play a role in making Spelman what it is, and when we use that power to encourage, uplift and support our fellow Spelmanites, we do our part in perfecting the Spelman sisterhood," according to Mitchell.
