Spelman Student Wins #HBCUproud TikTok Scholarship

January 2020

Christian ReederChristian Reeder, C’2020, is #HBCUproud.

Reeder, a sociology and anthropology major, was recently named one of 20 recipients of a new $10,000 scholarship awarded by TikTok, a video-sharing social networking service, and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

Students at historically Black colleges and universities were invited to submit a short-film via the video platform highlighting their HBCU pride.

Reeder, who was already active on the app, said she automatically knew she wanted to apply.

“Not many people get to see the beautiful landscape and amenities of Spelman because it is a closed campus,” she said. “I wanted to represent Spelman and showcase all it has to offer from its social scene to the College’s health initiatives, sisterhood and campus activities.”
