Spelman a Top Producer of Teach for America Leaders

November 2019

Teach for America Logo (resized)For another year, Spelman has been named among the top small colleges and universities responsible for producing Teach for America leaders nationwide. Teach for America recruits leaders to teach in low-income communities for at least two years.

Following her participation in the program, Christa Thompson, C’2008, founded her charter school, KIPP Nashville College Prep Elementary. “TFA gave me a platform,” she said.

“Connecting with another alumna afforded me networking support, job opportunities, resource sharing and overall community engagement work.” Spelman has made the list each year for the past 11 years and held the number one spot for five years. This year, 13 Spelman alumnae have been hired by TFA and several current students are recipients of TFA internships.
