Alyssa Armstrong Sought Empowerment Upon Decision to Enroll at Spelman

September 2019

Alyssa ArmstrongAlyssa Armstrong, C’2020, a native of Newark, Delaware, chose to attend Spelman College because of the sisterhood that was displayed to her by students leaders before she was enrolled as a student. She knew that as she matriculated, the College would continue to empower her to be confident and successful as a Black woman.

During her time at Spelman, the political science major, served for two-consecutive years as the Gender Equity co-chair for the Spelman College Chapter of the NAACP.  A member of the Spelman College Glee Club, Armstrong served as the historian and she currently serves as the public relations manager. She created an interactive guide for incoming first-year students to learn about the organization as well as creating an app that connects current students and alumnae to the happenings of the Glee Club.

As a first-year student, Armstrong was inducted into Phi Alpha Delta, the largest co-ed professional law fraternity in the United States. She aspires to own her own marketing firm and will pursue her master's degree in marketing.
