Rising Senior Tayla Bibb, Plans to Further Her Study of HIV/AIDS

August 2019

Tayla BibbEntering into her final year at Spelman, Tayla Bibb, C'2020,  is most proud of her ability to encourage and offer guidance to younger students interested in becoming scientists. As the first scientist in her family, she understands the importance of guidance. “It is very important to me to be that go-to person that I did not have while growing up,” she said.

A Research Initiative for Student Enhancement and Health Careers Opportunity Pipeline Program scholar, Bibb plans to obtain an M.D./Ph.D. focused on infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS. “I would like to look at different factors on how HIV/AIDS affects the brain,” she said. “I am determined to contribute to the science field by working to improve research that will save lives.”
