Cassandra Campbell, C'2019, is an intelligent, empathetic person who practices honesty and integrity in everything she does. During her time at Spelman, the New York native majored in
computer science with the goal of developing educational applications and video games for children.
Her love for technology began at an early age while growing up as the only girl among four boys – her brother and three cousins. She attended a career and technical education high school and was part of the technology educational track. There she learned networking and Cisco skills. After completing the track, her spark for a career in technology ignited. After interning with
Girls Who Code as a teaching assistant where she supported the instruction of computer science concepts to 20 high school students, many of the girls shared how much they appreciated her assistance and encouragement to ‘never give up.’ The GWC work experience further increased and validated her desire to work in technology yet marry education with her role.
After graduation, Campbell will join Microsoft and embark upon her new journey in the tech industry. When doubt and fear arose, she was inspired by her grandfather who taught her at a young age to recite the scripture Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” "It never fails and still motivates me to keep my head up and continue to work hard. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in life and building a career in technology,” said Campbell.
