Spelman’s CPI Celebrated During Annual Conference

October 2018

Career Pathways Initiative at Spelman’s Career Pathways Initiative team recently won the Greatest Social Media Impact award during the third annual UNCF/CPI conference. Made possible through a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., CPI is a pilot program for select historically Black colleges and universities to increase the number of students who transition to meaningful jobs in their chosen fields after graduation.

Spelman is one of a cohort of 18 predominantly Black institutions to receive the grant. During the conference, members of Spelman’s team, led by Tinaz Pavri, Ph.D., division chair for Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighted the College's success over the past year.

In addition, presentations on Spelman's CPI data-science project were made by Brandeis Marshall, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Marionette Holmes, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics, and Unislawa Williams, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Political Science.
