Spelman Helped Put Alumna on Path to Intel Foundation Presidency

July 2018

Spelman Alumna Pia Wilson BodyWhen she was elected president of Intel Foundation, Pia Wilson-Body, C’87, was reminded of the power of perseverance:

“Throughout my career, I've had my fair share of twist and turns; but I didn't allow disappointments and setbacks deter me from achieving my career goals.”

As president, Wilson-Body is responsible for ensuring the Foundation achieves impact, which includes supporting the philanthropic efforts of its employees, while also realizing the foundation’s mission and goals of increasing STEM education. Her success, she said, is due in part to her time at Spelman where she was an economics major.

“Spelman showed me that I could be whatever I wanted to be,” she said. “It was empowering to see sisters in powerful roles and at the top of their game. I left Spelman knowing if they could do it so could I.”

And she has some advice for others seeking success:

“Be willing to go through the noes to get to your yes. In life, you will need to push through to get what you want.”
