Ambria M. Berksteiner, C’2016, was honored by the City of Savannah for exposing area
elementary and high school students to STEM through her organization Operation Changing the World One STEM at a Time Inc.
Berksteiner founded the organization while attending Spelman College where she graduated from the dual degree engineering program and majored in mathematics. She created the organization to provide mentorship for young Black girls interested in pursuing STEM-related careers.
The reigning Miss Black Savannah USA was recognized as a leading STEM ambassador for the city. Her efforts to expose underrepresented youth to STEM using Visual Art concepts helps bring creativity and imagination back into the classrooms.
Berksteiner is a Spelman Alumna STEM Ambassador, member of the Executive Board of the National Society of Black Engineers (Auburn University chapter), and recipient of the Georgia Power Women in Engineering Scholarship.
Her leadership and service provides an exemplary example of the importance of diversity in the classroom and workplace.
Berksteiner’s recognition supports the Strategic Plan 2022 theme “Elevate the Spelman Difference.”
