New Student Trustee and Representative Elected

September 2017

niamaloneThe Spelman College Board of Trustees has announced a new student trustee and representative to the board. Nia Malone, C’2020, has been elected student trustee, a voting position with a three-year term.

Malone, a political science and comparative women’s studies double major, is a member of the Spelman chapter of Young Democrats of America, and serves as secretary of Grl-Pwr, an organization founded by a Spelman alumna that mentors middle-school girls in Atlanta’s West End community.

Jill CartwrightJill Cartwright, C’2018, president of the Spelman Student Government Association for 2017-2018, is the board’s new student representative. Cartwright, a women’s studies major, is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, the Spelman College Glee Club, the College Review Board and founder of the Committee for Atlanta and Surrounding Communities’ Advancement and Development Equality.
