Spelman College Recognized for Excellence in Liberal Arts Share a Spelman College Press Release

ATLANTA (Sept. 10, 2015) -- Spelman College has been recognized as a leading liberal arts college, historically Black college and university, and women’s college according to rankings recently released by U.S. News & World Report and other organizations. The rankings are as follows:

•    U.S. News & World Report has ranked Spelman among the top 100 liberal arts colleges based on data such as retention, faculty resources, graduation rate and alumnae giving; listed the institution in the top 10 for innovative schools in the national liberal arts college category in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities; and named Spelman the No. 1 HBCU, using indicators that include retention, peer assessment, faculty resources and alumnae giving
•    Spelman has been listed as the No. 1 small college contributing the greatest number of alumnae/i to Teach for America’s corps
•    Sierra selected Spelman as one of the greenest schools in the U.S., with mention of the College’s incorporation of sustainability concepts into the curriculum
•    College Magazine named Spelman among the top 10 schools for activists, noting the College’s acknowledgment of intersectional equality and its annual Denim Day event which recognizes National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
• ranked Spelman in the top 10 for Best Women’s Colleges, taking into account the following data points: acceptance rate, retention rate, graduation rate and enrollment rate
