Marie Bernard, M.D.: What Does Diversity Have to do With Science?

Dr. Marie Bernard is the chief officer for scientific workforce diversity (COSWD) at the National Institutes of Health and leads the organization's effort to promote diversity, inclusiveness and equity throughout the biomedical research enterprise. 

Join Dr. Bernard on Feb., 16 at 5 p.m. EST for her talk: What Does Diversity Have to do With Science? This event is part of an ongoing speaker series, CVP @ Spelman, organized by the Spelman College Center of Excellence for Minority Women in STEM in collaboration with CVP.

“Dr. Bernard is an accomplished physician-scientist and has championed diversity and inclusion efforts over her entire career, including serving a leadership role in NIH’s most recent efforts to end structural racism in biomedical research through the UNITE initiative,” said former NIH director Dr. Francis Collins. “Her dedication and passion in creating equity and inclusion throughout the biomedical research enterprise are profound and inspiring. I am delighted that she will now be continuing in this vital leadership role for NIH on a permanent basis.”
