USAID“The Value of Study Abroad for Careers in International Affairs”

A talk featuring James Watson, USAID Development Diplomat-in-Residence, and Elaine Li, 2017 USAID Donald M. Payne International Development Fellow.

Mr. James Watson is a senior career foreign service officer representing the United States Agency for International Development across the five southern states (Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia), currently based in Atlanta at Morehouse College. He began his USAID career in 1989 in Washington, DC, soon after graduating from the University of Virginia. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese as well as some Hungarian and Gregorian languages.

Ms. Elaine Li is a 2017 USAID Donald M. Payne International Development Fellow currently pursing her Master of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Upon graduation, she will join the USAID Foreign Service.

Mr. Watson and Ms. Li will discuss the value of study abroad in pursuing a career in international affairs and development.
