Co-Moderator:  When and Where I Enter: Nursing Careers in the 21st Century

Originally from New Orleans, Dana Lloyd developed her passion for nursing at the age of 14 when her maternal grandmother was diagnosed with a massive stroke. She attended Louisiana State University where she received a bachelor’s of in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing with a family nurse practitioner focus.  

Lloyd became a caregiver for her grandmother who required 24-hour care that included giving scheduled medications, insulin injections, tube feedings and full hygiene care. Lloyd has worked in many areas as a nurse practitioner including family practice, urology and women’s health.  

Currently the director of the Student Health Services Department at Spelman College, Lloyd serves as one of five CPR, first-aid and AED instructors in the department. She is a wife and a proud mother of a 7-year-old son. Lloyd is passionate about the medical services provided to the students by the Student Health Services Department. Her zeal for nursing has been heighten in this new role to help promote health and prevent diseases in the college-age population.
