Panelist: The National Economy and its Impact on Healthcare Management in the U.S.

Alison Graves-Calhoun is a seasoned biomedical engineering professional with long-term experience in the medical device industry. Graves-Calhoun joined Medtronic Inc. in 1999 as a tachyarrhythmia field engineer and over the past 20 years, has worked in multiple roles including sales representative, technical field engineer, principal field scientist and principal clinical specialist.

Graves-Calhoun spends time volunteering with community organizations. She is a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and for the past four years has served as co-chair of the Founders Day committee for the Greater Cleveland Alumnae Chapter. A member of Jack and Jill of America Inc. since 2005, having served in multiple local and regional roles, she is also a member of the Western Reserve (OH) Chapter of the Links Inc. and currently serves as vice president of programs. She serves as a member of the National Black MBA Association Advisory Council. Graves-Calhoun currently serves as vice president of the Cleveland Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. Finally, Graves-Calhoun and her husband Byron are sincere believers in the importance and relevance of an HBCU education and as such, have established endowed scholarships at their alma maters, Spelman and Morehouse colleges.

Graves-Calhoun received a doctor of philosophy and a master of science in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. A dual degree engineering program student, she received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University and a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Spelman College. She lives in Richfield, Ohio, with her husband Byron. Her daughter Amaia is a freshman at Spelman College.
